קוֹנְטָס

קוֹנְטוֹס, קוֹנְטָס,(קוֹנְדָּס) m. (κοντός, contus) pole, shaft of a pike; pike. Erub.III, 3 (34b) בראש הק׳ Y. ed. (Mish. a. Bab. ed. ד for ט; v. Rabb. D. S. a. l. note 10) on the top of a pole (which is stuck in the ground); Y. ib. 21a. Y.Taan.II, 66a top ותליין בק׳ נגדוכ׳ and he suspended them (Nicanors head and hands) on a pike put up in the sight of Jerusalem; Y.Meg.I, 70c bot.; a. e.Pl. קוֹנְטוֹסִים, קוֹנְטוֹסִין, (קוֹנְדּ׳) קוֹנְטָסִ׳. Succ.4b נעץ ארבעה קונדיסיןוכ׳ if one drove four poles in the ground and put the covering of a Succah on them; (Tosef. ib. I, 12 העמיד … קורות). Pesik.
